When you feel overwhelmed, emotionally drained, and unable to meet constant demands, and you begin to lose the interest and motivation that led you to take on a certain role in the first place, this is what we call BURNOUT! Many of us in the corporate space experience it, but here are a couple of tips that have worked for me and I feel you should try…
Sleep: Yes, we underestimate sleep a lot. Our bodies need 7-8 hours of sleep to function properly for the next day. So, if you haven’t been sleeping enough, it’s your cue to improve your sleep habits.
Delegate: You can’t always handle everything by yourself. Ask someone to help you and take tasks off your plate. People are willing to help; find them and delegate.
Set Boundaries: Learn to say no. Ensure you have a clear separation between work and personal life.
Seek Support: Talk to friends, family, or a mental health professional. Connect with supportive colleagues.
Take a Break & Recharge: Apply for leave at the office. You are more productive when you are healthy, so take time to REST, RECHARGE, and RETURN.
Burnout reduces productivity and saps your energy, leaving you feeling increasingly helpless, hopeless, cynical, and resentful. Eventually, you may feel like you have nothing more to give. Don’t be caught in it… Find Time to REST!
